France has confirmed plans to acquire a stake in the Kenya-based African Trade & Investment Development Insurance (ATIDI), a leading multilateral insurance body focused on African trade and investment risks.
The move, announced by French President Emmanuel Macron, aims to strengthen risk frameworks and improve the appeal of higher-risk African economies to private investors. With operations spanning multiple African countries, ATIDI primarily underwrites risks related to political instability, sovereign defaults and trade-related commercial disruptions.
